E-infrastructure: the ecosystem for innovation - one year on

e-InfrastructureOneYearOn.jpgE-infrastructure: the ecosystem for innovation - one year on is a report, released last week by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills, that outlines progress on implementing the UK’s e-infrastructure strategy.

The strategy proposed a series of recommendations to help develop national e-infrastructure, and we are happy to see that software is prominent within those recommendations. We were also pleased to see that our work promoting software-related and training issues is discussed.

This report provides an overview of the UK’s e-infrastructure strategy as of 2013. It looks at the initial steps towards developing an e-Infrastructure ecosystem. It describes the technological developments that must be exploited to promote innovation and ensure UK competitiveness. It describes current e-infrastructure, including the government’s investments since 2011 and it looks at recent developments and areas to consider in the future to develop the UK’s e-infrastructure.

The report can be downloaded from the GOV.UK website.
