Who are we?

The Software Sustainability Institute is the first organisation in the world that was dedicated to improving software in research.

Since 2010, we have focussed our efforts on cultivating better, more sustainable, research software to enable world-class research. We are a partnership of four UK universities: Edinburgh, Manchester, Southampton, and Oxford. The SSI is currently funded by the seven councils of the UKRI.

I understood very quickly that the service was here to help, not to judge me. I would recommend that people just apply [to the Research Software Healthchecks] no matter the current status of their code.
