It's not the winning, it's the taking part that counts! At the Institute we broadly agree with that sentiment, however there is nothing quite like competitions and prizes to liven things up.
CW18 Main workshop
For the workshop part of CW18 there will be a prize for each member of the team which comes up with the best collaborative idea from the collaborative ideas sessions. During the lunch and afternoon coffee break on the 27 March 2018, participants will get a chance to vote on what idea they thought was best (the ideas will be posted on poster boards in the form of one A4 page and you will each get three sticky dots to vote for your favourite one, two or three). The idea with the most votes wins - if there is a tie, CW18 organisers will decide who wins. The winning team will each get £30 of Amazon vouchers but must be there in person to collect their prize at the closing session of the workshop on 27 March 2018.
For the hackday, we have some prizes that are themselves great to hack.
Each member of the winning team (up to a maximum of 6 people) will be awarded a Raspberry Pi 3 kit + Google AIY Voice Kit + sensor packs full size. There will also be a second place prize of Raspberry Pi 3 kit + Google AIY Voice Kit and a third place prize of electronic writing tablet (again up to a maximum of 6 people in the team). Members of the CW18 organising group will view presentations and demos from each team that registered on the evening of the 28 March and choose what in their opinion is the best hack according to the judging criteria. The judges decision is final and participants must stay until 5pm on Wednesday 28 March 2018 to be eligible to receive prizes.
