Are you dead keen to publish your own new, exciting research software tool but are a little unsure if you've ticked all the "proper" boxes?  Do you want to make use of an interesting-looking piece of infrastructure software but want a way of checking how easy it will be to install, maintain or extend?

Assessing the "quality" of a software package is fraught with difficulty and demands a pretty structured approach.  The Institute's latest guide, 'How do I figure out if this software is "good"?' shows you how we go about it, and provides in-depth notes on two different but complementary methodologies for software evaluation.
