Women in science on Surge radio

Posted by s.hettrick on 20 February 2014 - 9:52am

Devasena Inupakutika, one of the Institute's software consultants, appeared yesterday on Surge radio to discuss women in science. Devasena is a keen contributor to Robogals - an initiative to increase female participation in engineering and technology, which is aimed at girls in primary and secondary school.

Along with other representatives of the Southampton Robogals group, Devasena was invited onto That's What She Said to discuss her thoughts on the low participation of female students in STEM subjects (on which there has recently been some good news).

You can hear more from Devasena this month when we launch our blog series Women in Software which will publish viewpoints from a variety of authors on why women should take a career in software, the politics of the gender imbalance, and ways of increasing participation of women in software.

If you missed Devasena's appearance on the show, you can listen to the podcast.
