Data@Sheffield Workshop

Posted by a.pawlik on 4 December 2015 - 5:01pm

The Open Data Science Initiative project is organising a Data Science Workshop (Data@Sheffield) on the 16th December. The event is free to attend and will take place the day the December Data Hide. This workshop will be an opportunity to explore and develop ideas and define clear directions for the Open Data Science Initiative.

The Data Science Initiative is a cross faculty project. They regularly host Data Hide events. The topics at Data Hides cover a number of different topics:

  • practical talks about how researchers can open and share their data and methods,
  • proofs and theory (e.g. tools for providing privacy when releasing large datasets),
  • applications (e.g. using malaria and weather data to forecast/nowcast cases of the disease),
  • the broader social and political effects (e.g. how people interact with, use or generate data).

For abstracts, schedule and more information visit the Data@Sheffield conference page.
