Structure and delivery format for Online HPC coursesUNIVERSE-HPC has organised a free talk titled Structure and delivery format for Online HPC courses, which will take place online and at the Bayes Centre, University of Edinburgh, on Monday, 9 October 2023.

With the rapid move to widescale use of online training kickstarted by the COVID pandemic, there has been a lot of discussion about the best technologies to use for the delivery of lectures and practicals for remote courses, but surprisingly little discussion about the high-level structure, such as timetabling.

In this talk, Dr David Henty will discuss the pros and cons of a variety of formats that EPCC (Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre) has used for online training before, during and after the pandemic, including intensive live courses; full or half days with gaps between them; recorded lectures with live practicals; fully asynchronous courses such as MOOCs or online degree programmes.

Speaker: Dr David Henty is Group Manager at EPCC which is a part of The University of Edinburgh's College of Science and Engineering.

Keynote and Introductions: Neil Chue Hong is the PI of UNIVERSE-HPC and also the Director & PI of Software Sustainability Institute.

Space for in-person attendees is limited so we encourage you to register early.
