I am a quantitative ecologist with a broad interest in using, making, and improving tools for data wrangling and statistical modelling.
I try to understand the physical and biological processes that shape the distributions and life-history strategies of animals. My work aims to bridge the gap between field observations and ecological theory and to this end I am working on a number of open source software projects.
I currently work as an Ecological Statistician for the British Trust for Ornithology, where I analyse data, develop models, and provide advice on statistical techniques and survey design across the organisation.
In previous roles I have studied a variety of biological systems and topics including open-ocean animal and microbial communities, resource allocation strategies and migration phenology in penguins and albatrosses, and the ecology of pathogens and disease vectors.
