Applications will be opening in the next few days for the Software Sustainability Institute’s exciting and exclusive 2014 Fellowship programme.

We are offering £3,000 to support promising researchers and technologists across different career stages who use and/or develop software in research and are affiliated with a UK based research organisation. The funds can be used to support travel, capacity building activities, supporting input to our policy programme and other relevant activities which the successful Fellow has in mind.

Are you using or developing software in your research, are you interested in promoting software skills or a particular piece of software, do you have a social personality as well as research and/or technical depth. If so they the Fellows programme is for you.

Once you are a Fellow, although the funding is time limited, once you have successfully completed you active year, you can move onto the continuing Fellowship programme and join a cohort who have a strong interest of software in research.

The Fellows are an impressive bunch; some have represented the institute directly and the Institute has supported their different ideas; for example they are currently working on a book about software in research, combining funding to collectively host an event and supporting part of a larger fact finding mission to make their working funds go further. They also offer their opinions and advice on topics in software and research, and contribute to the Institute's blog.

So if you are interested then please look out for the announcement and the the meantime please take a look at what our current Fellows have said about the programme.

Please note there will be a launch Webinar on Thursday 12th September at 2.30pm to 5pm BST more details to follow. Please hold that date and time in your diary.
