Interests
Matt's main professional interest is in how data science can be used to drive digital transformation in government. Much of his work at the Government Digital Service is around how technologies like machine learning, and artificial intelligence can be incorporated into our services to make the work of government more efficient. The other main interest has been how techniques for 'reproducible research' and software engineering can be used by government departments to reduce production time, and improve the quality of statistical publications, of which government produces many thousands.
