Postdoctoral Researcher, Institute for Medical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

I am a researcher in the Laboratory for Computational Physiology at MIT, with a particular interest in improving the way that clinical data is shared and reused for the benefit of patients. Previously I was a PhD student at University College London, where I carried out an interdisciplinary project between the Mullard Space Science Laboratory and University College Hospital, exploring how models of 'normal' health can be used to track the physiological status of critical care patients.

My time at MIT centres on the development and analysis of clinical datasets, with a particular focus on data associated with critically ill patients admitted to intensive care units. In the spirit of reproducible research, we recently released MIMIC-III, a freely accessible critical care database which is used widely around the world for research, quality improvement initiatives, and higher education coursework. We also host datathons, events that bring together teams of researchers and caregivers from across disciplines to answer clinical questions.
