We are delighted to announce that an article titled Research software engineering accelerates the translation of biomedical research for health has been published on Nature. The article was written by David Horsfall, Jonah Cool, Angela Oliveira Pisco, Muzlifah Haniffa, and SSI Director and Deputy Director Neil Chue Hong and Simon Hettrick.

The article reflects on the importance of research software engineering to data-driven biomedical research, but highlights how its role is often undervalued and poorly understood. Although the emerging RSE field is critical for the scaling and reproducibility of scientific output, it still lacks the necessary recognition.
