Collaborations Workshop 2021 (CW21) will take place online from Tuesday 30 March to Thursday 1 April and the call for lightning talks is now open! The deadline for submissions is 23:59 GMT on Sunday 7 March and we will notify applicants of the outcomes by 16 March.
A lightning talk gives you two minutes and one slide to discuss a subject. Lightning talks are the perfect way to introduce yourself at the workshop. You could talk about your work, an idea or problem, promote a workshop you’re facilitating during the event, a pitch for the CW Hack Day or anything that's related to software and research. Ideally the topic will be related to the themes of CW21: FAIR Research Software, Diversity & Inclusion, and Software Sustainability. Alternatively, you could focus on one of the sub-themes of collaborative working, data/code sharing, reproducible research or data science.
How quick is lightning? Lightning is pretty quick: two minutes. You will be allowed only one slide, which you will have to submit in advance if selected. You'll be presenting alongside a countdown timer, so you'll have to keep to time. However, it's amazing how much you can present in two minutes and it’s a fun way to introduce yourself to the community! For examples and inspiration, you can watch the lightning talks from last year’s Collaborations Workshop 2020 in this YouTube playlist.
