Call for volunteers for Research Software Camp: Beyond the Spreadsheet

Posted by j.laird on 19 August 2021 - 9:30am

Research Software Camps logoWe're looking for volunteers for our next Research Software Camp, both to mentor and to learn new coding skills.

As part of our next Research Software Camp: Beyond the Spreadsheet, we are looking to help people new to coding or at a beginner level to develop their skills. We’re looking for volunteers from any discipline or any level of experience. We will pair mentors and mentees according to their language or tools of interest.

Learners will be paired with an expert that will guide you through this journey. In return, we would like you to write about your reasons for learning to code and your experience of working with us.

We would ask mentors to commit a maximum of 1 hr every week to walk their mentees through their projects.

Find out more: Send an email to s.aragon@software.ac.uk with your expression of interest for either role by Tuesday 24 August.

The Software Sustainability Institute will run its Research Software Camp: Beyond the Spreadsheet from 1 to 12 November. The Camp will focus on the uses of spreadsheets in research and first steps into further use of software in research. Our online events and resources will collate different perspectives, experiences, and best practice of the use of spreadsheets, as well as signpost to existing resources.
