Calling all Research Technical Professionals: Share you Experiences

Researchers at the University of Manchester are inviting Research Technicians and Technology & Skills Specialists across all disciplines to share their experiences in a short survey. The anonymous survey takes approximately 15 minutes and the deadline is Monday 15 June.

This study explores the role of Research Technical and Professional (RTP) specialists in advancing open research, as well as the barriers and challenges they may face in becoming involved. The research team wants to hear about how your work supports transparent, reproducible, and robust research; recognition, support, and training needs in your role; and barriers or challenges in engaging with open research practices.

RTPs play an important role in supporting research practices, infrastructure, and technical expertise that can enable open and reproducible science — yet their perspectives are still not well understood. Your responses will directly inform recommendations for institutions, funders, and the wider research community, helping to strengthen recognition of RTPs and enhance their role in advancing open and trustworthy science.

Why participate?
