Posted by j.laird on 28 October 2021 - 2:00pm

Cloud with double helix insideDo you need to analyse more genomic data than your own computer can handle?

If you would like to use High Performance Computing for genomics but don't know where to start then the Cloud-SPAN Genomics Course is for you! The course is free, online and assumes no prior experience with the tools covered in the workshop. Over four half-day sessions you will learn:

  • best practices for the organisation of bioinformatics projects and data.
  • how to use the command-line to connect to, and use, HPC.
  • how to use command line tools such as FastQC and cutadapt to evaluate the read quality of your data and prepare it for analysis.
  • how to align your reads to a reference genome and find sequence variants between my sample and a reference genome.

The Genomics course will take place from 22 to 25 November, 10:00-13:00 GMT. There are a limited number of diversity scholarships available. Find out more and register by clicking here today
