The Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement (CSCCE) have released a new guide to 'using virtual events to facilitate community building: event formats'.
It is intended for scientific community managers, event organizers and convenors who are looking to design engaging and inclusive virtual events. The guidebook was created by CSCCE staff and community members, including the Software Sustainability Institute’s Community Manager Rachael Ainsworth.
The resource focuses on event formats and acts as a recipe book, allowing the reader to pick and choose the event that meets their needs and those of their community. The guide contains 12 different recipes in 3 sections: 'networking and socialising', 'information exchange' and 'collaborative learning and building together'. One of the recipes details how to run a Collaborative Ideas session - an activity that is run each year at the Institute’s Collaborations Workshop and was conducted virtually in 2020.
