Posted by j.laird on 20 April 2022 - 10:00am

creating a github pages site with JekyllRegister for a free workshop on Building Websites with Jekyll & GitHub Pages as part of our upcoming Research Software Camp: Next Steps in Coding.

This workshop gives a step-by-step guide to creating a collection of webpages using a framework called Jekyll and hosted using GitHub Pages. It will be delivered by Renato Alves, Julian Bauer and Lisanna Paladin over three afternoons (13:00 - 16:00BST) from 23-25 May.

GitHub Pages provides a cost-free way to build and host web pages and sites, commonly used by the open source communities to provide documentation on software projects, and to create individual, group or organisational blogs and websites. However, for those taking their first steps towards building sites like this, the process can be confusing and intimidating. This tutorial aims to address this, by providing a step-by-step guide to creating a collection of pages and combining them into a coherent site using a framework called Jekyll and hosted using GitHub Pages.

The workshop will take place online from 13:00 - 16:00 BST on Monday 23 - Wednesday 25 May.

Register for the workshop on Eventbrite.

The Research Software Camp: Next Steps in Coding will run from 16- 27 May with a focus on improving computational and training skills at beginner and intermediate levels. Find out about the other workshops and sessions taking place during the Camp.
