The inaugural Research Software Engineers (RSE) meeting will take place on Wednesday 26th September 2018, from 13:00–15:00, in room G.03, Bayes Centre, at the University of Edinburgh.

This event is open to anyone developing research software in Edinburgh, whether in an academic or non-academic context.

This first meeting will try to establish an Edinburgh RSE community serving the local area, to determine the interests of this community and where a local RSE organisation can provide the most benefit to people in the Edinburgh area. The long-term aim is that Edinburgh RSE will become a community led organisation, serving the needs of local people working in the RSE domain.

An outline plan for the meeting is:

13:00   Welcome
13:15   Research Software Engineers – Who / What / Why
13:30   Edinburgh RSE Community Bootstrap
14:00   Coffee / Cake / Networking
14:15   Bootstrap Outputs, Actions, Volunteers
14:45   Wrap up & Thanks
15:00   Close & Tidy up
