Register for our panel discussion on research software career paths and training needs

The panel discussion at the Research Software Camp: Next Steps in Coding will explore the current challenges and gaps in training, and skills needed to follow different career pathways in research software.

Each panellist represents a different career, and they will discuss their roles, the skills needed and what training is currently available (or missing). The will discuss the training they wished was available to them in the past to help with role progressions, inclusivity and recognition of software-related roles in research and science, and the challenges in following a specific career pathway.

The panel will take place from 2-3pm BST on Monday 16th May.

  • Joanna Ramasawmy - AtLAST scientist at UK Astronomy Technology Centre

  • Mark Basham - Science Director, Head of AI at Rosalind Franklin Institute
  • Sarah Jaffa - early career Research Software Engineer
  • Simon Hettrick - Software Sustainability Institute Deputy Director
