Registration is open for the workshop 'Sustainable Software Development for Researchers' or 'Bring your own Script and Make it Ready for Publication' by Carina Haupt, Head of Group Software at the German Aerospace Centre. The workshop is part of our Research Software Camp on research accessibility.

The workshop consists of two sessions taking place on Thursday 25 February 13:00 to 17:00 GMT and Friday 26 February 9:00 to 12:30 GMT - participants attend both sessions.

In this workshop, you will learn about the basic steps to prepare your code for sharing with others and make it ready for citation in a research paper. The example used in this workshop is the astronaut analysis code.

The workshop is partially inspired by the TIB workshop "FAIR Data and Software":

Leinweber Katrin, Kraft Angelina, Kuzak Mateusz, Johnston Luke, Hammitzsch Martin & Förstner Konrad. (2018, July). FAIR Data and Software: A Carpentries-based workshop at TIB, Hannover (Version 1.0.0). Zenodo. http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3707745

Setup

  • You need a computer including a Web browser, a text editor, and a Git client.
  • Bring your analysis script or other small software that you would like to prepare for publication including your development environment.

About the SSI Research Software Camps

The Software Sustainability Institute runs free online Research Software Camps twice a year over the course of two weeks. Each Camp will focus on introducing and exploring a topic around research software, thus starting discussions among various research communities. The first Research Software Camp on Research Accessibility will take place from 22 February to 5 March 2021.
