One of our goals is to promote the development of open-source, scientific software as a way of both sustaining scientific software and facilitating high-quality, repeatable research.

On Friday 13 April, Scientific American published an article on "secret computer code threatens science", which is a sobering reminder about why access to source code is important. It's a good complement to "Shining Light into Black Boxes" published in Science that same day.
