The Software Engineering Group is a small team which provides software engineering expertise and support to a wide range of research groups within the UK research community as well as engaging in a number of collaborative R&D projects in specific areas of computational science. A key activity for the Group is the provision and development of a software development project management framework and repository, which is a UK national resource, and the provision of software engineering expertise to this user community.
Your role will be to participate in the provision and development of this service and to contribute to the Group’s other R&D activities which are currently in agent-based modelling, software engineering and software parallelisation.

You will need strong technical and project experience, as well as technical expertise of scientific computing, high performance computing, parallel computing and software engineering. Experience in the design and implementation of large complex scientific applications on high performance systems such as the National HPC Service HECToR would be a distinct advantage as would experience in formal software design, testing and quality assurance.

You will be part of a small team and be expected to contribute to all elements of the Group’s programme, both technical and administrative.
