Two members of the Software Sustainability Institute have been featured in a Nature article that explores the vital yet often overlooked roles of research support professionals.

The piece, "How hidden contributions power modern research," profiles specialists across scientific disciplines whose work underpins research without always receiving formal recognition. SSI's Simon Hettrick and Philippa Broadbent are both quoted on the challenges and rewards of working in these roles.

Simon Hettrick, chair of Hidden REF and Director of Strategy at the SSI, speaks to the consequences of inadequate recognition, noting that it creates significant difficulties for people in support roles when it comes to securing resources, finding positions, and advancing their careers.
