Take part in a survey of the Digital Research Infrastructure Requirements for AI.

Technopolis is carrying out a review on behalf of The Alan Turing Institute and UKRI to establish the UK AI research and innovation community’s future requirements for Digital Research Infrastructure.

The study fits within the context of the UK’s Digital Research Infrastructure Strategy, with a specific strategic focus on Artificial Intelligence as part of the UK’s National AI Strategy. The review will focus on Digital Research Infrastructure needs to support the development and use of AI, looking at the compute provision, data access and skills. It will be used by Government and UKRI to inform future policy decisions about funding for AI Research Infrastructure.

Contributions are welcomed from all users of UK Digital Research Infrastructure, including organisations that do not currently develop or deploy AI, but might have an interest in doing so in future.

For the purposes of this study, the definition of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is that set out in the National AI Strategy, “Machines that perform tasks normally performed by human intelligence, especially when the machines learn from data how to do those tasks.” Digital Research Infrastructure pertains to:

  • large-scale compute facilities, including high-throughput, high-performance, and cloud computing.
  • data storage facilities, repositories, stewardship and security.
  • software and shared code libraries.
  • mechanisms for access, such as networks and user authentication systems.
  • people: the users, and the experts who develop and maintain these powerful resources.

Completing the survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes. The survey will close at 23.59 on the 8th April 2022.

Take part in the survey.
