Arno Proeme

Software Consultant

Arno works at the Institute and at EPCC as a software developer and as part of its consultancy team.

Originally from the Netherlands, he graduated with an MSci in Physics from Imperial College London and obtained a PhD in theoretical and computational statistical physics at the University of Edinburgh before joining EPCC as an application developer in January 2013.

He enjoys working closely with researchers and using his experience translating between scientific theory, mathematical models, numerical algorithms and accurate, efficient code. In his role at EPCC and the Institute he is working to improve the performance, sustainability and overall quality of scientific codes and to thereby pave the way for exciting advances in research. The main thrust of his sustainable performance-oriented work involves achieving high performance not just on current systems but also ensuring that application code is portable and scales well to take advantage of future parallel computing architectures.
