Not only did I join a fantastic group of people who are a joy to spend time with, extremely knowledgeable and generous with that knowledge, but, with such a focus on active learning, it was also the perfect event for running the first ReproHack in the series and gathering feedback to guide future development.

In affiliation with The Carpentries, the Software Sustainability Institute organised the first European CarpentryConnect event in Manchester from 25–27 June 2019. CCMcr19 was hosted at The Studio Manchester on 25 and 26 of June, and in the Kilburn Building at the School of Computer Science (University of Manchester) on 27 June.

Organising, developing and delivering Library Carpentry workshops presents many challenges, some of which are more common in LC than in the other Carpentries programmes. On 26 June 2019 Phil Reed and Nilani Ganeshwaran led a CarpentryConnect Manchester workshop where we discussed ways to strengthen the LC community.

CarpentryConnect Manchester 2019 (#CCMcr19) conference in June will be the key community-building and networking event for The Carpentries' community in the UK and Europe for 2019. It will be an opportunity to bring together newer and more experienced community members to share knowledge, network, develop new skills and strategies for training and building strong local training communities.
