Cloud-SPAN is running an online workshop to learn about R and RStudio, taking place on Thursday 25 April from 2-4pm. The workshop will teach participants how to use RStudio, basic data types and structures in R, and how to organize their work with scripts and projects. Additionally, participants will learn how to import data, summarize it, and create and format a graph. The workshop is designed for complete beginners. There are 30 places available for the course, and priority will be given to researchers from underrepresented groups. However, everyone is encouraged to apply, and the course is free of charge. To apply, interested individuals are required to fill out an online form by 12pm on Monday 15 April. Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 17 April if they have been allocated a place. 

• Do you train non-experts to do analyses on high performance computing? 
• Would you like to learn how to efficiently manage fully configured Amazon Web Services (AWS) instances (Linux virtual machines) to deliver workshops to diverse participants?  
• Would you like to learn how to configure and manage your own Amazon Machine Image (AMI) templates (from which instances are created) with specific data and software analysis tools? 

Cloud-SPAN instructors are available to deliver this 3 hour training session at your institution at no cost to you. They can teach you and your team the method they have used for over 2 years to efficiently manage AWS instances and AMIs for many workshops. For the training session, participants only need the Terminal/Shell and ssh programs on their laptops. 

The workshop assumes no prior experience with the AWS concepts and tools covered but you will need experience of the Linux Terminal (Shell/Command Line Interface).

Cloud-SPAN will host two free workshops for those who want to learn more about using High Performance Computing for genomics. These workshops will provide an introduction to using the command line, logging onto the cloud and developing skills to analyse and manage large data sets.
