Inspired by the videos created by Sustain during their 2018 Summit, we asked some of the Collaborations Workshop 2019 attendees to share their thoughts about research software sustainability. Each video contains a question relating to software in research, and each interviewee shared their views with us.
Join us for an informal Edinburgh Carpentries Networking Event on the 24th May 2019 from 4pm to 7pm at the Bayes Centre to find out how The Carpentries may improve your research and how you can contribute to providing core computational and data analysis training to scientists in the Edinburgh area. Edinburgh Carpentries, based in The Carpentries model, aims to establish a recurring and coordinated offer of computational training to the research community in Edinburgh. Register on Eventbrite. Please note that attendance is free but registration is required.
The British Library, Software Sustainability Institute and Alan Turing Institute are co-organising a workshop on Software Citation on the 13th and 14th May 2019 at the British Library, to raise the profile of the topic, provide information and address current challenges.
"We are in a position to fundamentally reorganise the heart of the software. By doing so, this will enable us to maintain the software into the future and facilitate the process of adding new functionality to the software ... SSI can assist in having software usable by others not just for a few months or a year, but rather for a much longer software lifetime"
