Carpentries Instructor Training workshops running on 16-19 March
We will be running The Carpentries Instructor Training online in the afternoons of 16-19 March.
Instructor Training is an intensive (normally two-day) workshop for novices that explains evidence-based approaches to effective teaching computational and data skills. It is also part of official training for people who wish to become Software Carpentry, Library Carpentry and Data Carpentry Instructors.
The workshop:
- teaches how to create a positive environment and motivate learners at workshops and classes.
- provides opportunities to practise and build your own teaching skills.
- prepares you to use these teaching skills in Carpentry workshops (and any other teaching you may do).
- helps you become an integrated member of the Carpentries community.
It is strongly advised that the attendees have some previous exposure to Carpentry workshops - either as students, helpers, observers or co-instructors - to help put what we teach at the workshop in the right context.
The workshop website contains more details about the workshop and schedule. To apply for a place at the workshop - please contact Aleksandra Nenadic at a.nenadic@manchester.ac.uk. Priority will be given to participants from UK institutions that do not have a partnership with The Carpentries, i.e. people who cannot get onto Instructor Training as part of their institutional membership.
