We’re very proud to announce our 2023 Mentorship Programme cohort will be graduating today (28th June 2023) at 12:00 BST. Our mentees will be sharing their projects, experiences and future plans in lightning talks with brief space for questions.

The SSI Mentorship Programme started as a place to foster a supportive and collaborative environment where mentors and mentees can share knowledge, exchange ideas, and work towards the common goal of developing sustainable software solutions. The mentorship programme this year ran from the 24th April to the 26th June 2023, as part of the Research Software Camp: FAIR software. 

About the SSI Learning to Code Mentorship Programme

In 2021, the SSI decided to launch and trial a mentorship programme as part of the Research Software Camps to offer one-to-one support provided by an experienced mentor. Since then, it’s evolved and it now also aims to connect researchers with experienced mentors who can provide guidance and support in developing sustainable software practices beyond zero-level entry skills. Since then, the mentorship has grown and it’s offered support to 50+ researchers around the world to date. In 2023 alone, the mentorship accepted 30 mentees in total.
