New Deputy Director for the Software Sustainability Institute

Posted by n.chuehong on 26 August 2013 - 2:45pm

simonthumb.jpgI am delighted to announce the promotion of Dr. Simon Hettrick to become the new Deputy Director of the Software Sustainability Institute.

Dr. Hettrick takes up this position with immediate effect, in addition to his previous role as Policy and Communications Lead at the Institute. Dr. Hettrick received his Masters degree in laser physics at Heriot-Watt University, and undertook his doctoral studies in Tapered Waveguide Lasers at the University of Southampton. Prior to his current position, he worked in patent law for over three years and as a publicity coordinator at OMII-UK.

Over the last year, Dr. Hettrick has spearheaded the Institute's Research Software Engineer and e-Infrastructure Training campaigns and workshops, as well as maintaining the growth in recognition and reputation of the Institute's website and blog. I look forward to working with him to further develop the Institute as tackles the challenges of cultivating world-class research through software.
