Register for Research Software Camp: FAIR software workshops and talks

RSC logo on top of keyboardA selection of free online talks and workshops, part of the Research Software Camp: FAIR software, are now open for registration. All talks and workshops are aimed at a beginner level and no previous knowledge or experience is required. 

This year, the RSC aims to increase language diversity. To that end, we’re offering workshops in other languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, and Ukrainian. The 2023 summer edition of Research Software Camp (RSC) will take place between 19th and 30th June.

Talks

How to publish FAIR research outputs

19th June, 15:00-16:00 BST

This talk will cover topics related to FAIR research outputs. The aim is to expand the definition of “research outputs”, define the FAIR principles, explain how to choose a repository, and demonstrate how to use a repository for archiving research outputs.

Introduction to R (EN)

20th June, 10:00-15:00 BST

This workshop is an introduction to the R language and geared towards beginners with no prior experience programming experience. 

Instructor: Andrzej Aleksander Romaniuk.

FAIR principles workshop

29th June, 13:00-17:00 BST.

This workshop is an introduction to Open Science and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles for data re-use. Instructor: Elvina Gountouna.

Este taller está dirigido a personas que utilizan hojas de cálculo para la manipulación de datos y que nunca han programado, pero que les gustaría aprender a trabajar con R.

Análisis y visualización de datos usando Python 

29th & 30th June, 13:00-17:00 BST

Python es un lenguaje de programación general que es útil para escribir scripts para trabajar con datos de manera efectiva y reproducible. Esta es una introducción a Python diseñada para participantes sin experiencia en programación. Estas lecciones pueden enseñarse en un día (~ 6 horas).

Visualização de dados interativa versus publicação academica. Por que não?

29th June, 14:00-15:00 BST

Nesse workshop, um fluxo de trabalho para produzir visualizações de dados interativas e estáticas com pouco esforço adicional utilizando Quarto e Plotly será demonstrado.

The Research Software Camps help address the lack of software skills in research through free online introductory workshops and resources. Our RSCs allow researchers with limited or no experience in software engineering to learn new coding skills and receive personal guidance in a welcoming and supportive environment.
