Collaborations Workshops

The Software Sustainability Institute's annual Collaborations Workshop (CW) brings together researchers, software developers, managers, funders and more to explore important ideas in software and research and to plant the seeds of interdisciplinary collaborations.

Collaborations Workshop 2023 (CW23) will take place as a hybrid event from Tuesday 2 May - Thursday 4 May 2022 - save the date! More information about the event and the themes will be announced soon.

Collaborations Workshop 2023

CW23 will take place as a hybrid event from Tuesday, 2 May to Thursday, 4 May 2023. The theme of the workshop is Sustainable Career Development for those in the research software community: looking after your software, your career, and yourself.

Collaborations Workshop 2022

CW22 took place online from Monday, 4 April to Thursday, 7 April 2022. The themes of the workshop were Code Review, Ethics, Hybrid Working, and Software Sustainability.

Collaborations Workshop 2021

CW21 was held from Tuesday, 30 March to Thursday, 1 April 2021 online. The themes of the workshop were FAIR Research Software, Diversity and Inclusion, and Software Sustainability.

Collaborations Workshop 2020

CW20 was held from Tuesday, 31st March to Thursday, 2nd April 2020 online. The themes of the workshop were Open Science/Research, Data Privacy and Software Sustainability.

Collaborations Workshop 2019

CW19 was held from Monday 1st to Wednesday 3rd April 2019 at Loughborough University in the West Park Teaching Hub, Loughborough. The themes of the workshop were interoperability, documentation, training and sustainability.

Collaborations Workshop 2018

Collaboration Workshop 18 (CW18) took place from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th March 2018 at The School of Mathematics, Cardiff University. The themes of the workshop were culture change, productivity and sustainability.

Collaborations Workshop 2017

CW17 took place from 27 to 29 March 2017 at the Leeds University Business School, University of Leeds. The theme of the workshop was the Internet of Things (IoT) and open data: implications for research.

Collaborations Workshop 2016

CW16 took place at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh from 21 to 23 March 2016. The theme of the workshop was software credit.

Collaborations Workshop 2015

CW15 was held at the Oxford e-Research Centre, Oxford from 25 to 27 March 2015. The theme was interdisciplinary working and its relationship to software.

Collaborations Workshop 2014

CW14 was held from 26 to 28 March 2014 at the Oxford e-Research Centre. The theme was the role software plays in reproducible research.

Collaborations Workshop 2013

CW13 took place at Merton College at the University of Oxford from 21 to 22 March 2013.

Collaborations Workshop 2012

CW12 was held at Queen's College at the University of Oxford on 21-22 March 2012. The concept of "Research Software Engineers" first originated during this edition of the Collaborations Workshop.
